The Nordic Heritage Park will honor the immigrant tradition that brought thousands of Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish immigrants to Oregon's northern coast in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This will be an interactive public space to share the stories and history of the Nordic heritage that contributed immensely to the fabric of the Astoria community. In revitalizing a city park space, the client's goal is to increase awareness of and celebrate the nordic culture within the community.

The West Studio team worked closely with the Astoria Scandinavian Heritage Association and the City of Astoria, in a public/private partnership, to provide community engagement, schematic design, permit approval and engineered documents for the 0.28 acre site. The project is now awaiting completion of fundraising efforts, which are over half way there already, to begin construction.
